Austin Farmers Market – Preorder Pickup Program
Quick Guide for Participating Vendors
Thank you for your interest in the Austin Farmers Market Preorder Pickup Program!
This system lets customers preorder your products online and pick them up conveniently from the market’s pickup office.
Here’s everything you need to know to participate smoothly and stay compliant with Texas law.
How It Works:
Customers place orders through AustinFarmersMarket.com before Sunday at 11:59 PM.
- You receive a detailed order list on Monday morning (with customer names and products).
- You deliver only preordered, labeled items between 10 AM and 2 PM on Tuesday or Thursday (if assigned) to: Austin Farmers Market – 12319 Lowden Ln, Manchaca, TX 78652
- AFM holds those items on behalf of the customer (not for resale).
- Customers pick up their orders on Tuesday or Thursday, 3–7 PM.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Weekly Product Updates
- Submit product availability by Friday at noon each week.
- Clearly mark any Cottage Food, raw dairy, or egg products on your submission form.
2. Order Preparation
- Pack and label each order with:
- Customer Name
- Vendor Name
- Any storage instructions (“Keep Refrigerated,” etc.)
- Deliver only what has been preordered. No unsold inventory.
3. Delivery
- Deliver orders between 10 AM and 2 PM on Tuesdays or Thursdays (if assigned).
- AFM will check in your items and organize them for pickup.
- Late deliveries may delay customer pickup or payout.
4. Compliance
- You remain the legal seller of your products.
- AFM acts only as the customer’s authorized agent to receive and hold items until pickup.
- Follow all applicable laws for your product type:
- Texas Cottage Food Law (for home-prepared items)
- DSHS Raw Milk Permit (for raw dairy)
- Texas Egg Law (for ungraded or graded eggs)
- All items must be properly labeled and packaged before delivery.
- AFM may decline to accept unlabeled or unsafe products.
Payments:
- AFM processes customer payments online and pays vendors after successful delivery.
- AFM retains a service fee or commission to cover operations.
- Vendor payouts via ACH, PayPal, or other agreed method.
Customer Experience:
- Customers get one easy pickup for all their preordered items.
- AFM staff handle distribution at the pickup office.
- Unclaimed orders are held for up to 72 hours (or per vendor direction) and then discarded or returned.
Communication:
- Weekly order summaries emailed Monday morning.
- Any issues (missing orders, delays, etc.) should be reported immediately to: howdy@austinfarmersmarket.com
Key Takeaway:
- AFM is your logistics partner — not your buyer.
- You stay the seller, AFM acts as the customer’s agent, and together we make local food more convenient for everyone.
